What is AUMOVIO SE?

AUMOVIO SE is a German automotive technology company covering vehicle electronics, software-defined systems and mobility solutions. It was the Automotive group sector of Continental AG until it was spun off as an independent company and listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange on 18 September 2025. Its cybersecurity work is organised around a five-layer model spanning the individual ECU, internal vehicle communication, external communication interfaces, secure fleet management, and cybersecurity governance. Offerings include ECU and network protection, intrusion detection and prevention for vehicle Ethernet and CAN networks, AI-based anomaly detection, secure over-the-air updates, a vehicle security operations centre, and threat analysis and risk assessment (TARA). Its Elektrobit subsidiary supplies AUTOSAR and Linux operating system software including cryptographic components.

Best for: Vehicle manufacturers sourcing cybersecurity as part of an ECU and vehicle software supply relationship rather than as a separate product.
Pros
  • Tier 1 supplier scale: the business employed around 92,000 people and reported roughly 19.4bn euro in sales for 2024 as Continental's Automotive sector (Continental spin-off materials)
  • Development cycle stated as compliant with ISO/SAE 21434, including continuous vulnerability scanning (vendor documentation)
  • Cybersecurity is delivered alongside the ECUs and vehicle software the company already supplies, rather than as a separate third-party product
Things to check
  • Independent only since September 2025, so its track record as a standalone company is short
  • Cybersecurity sits within a broad vehicle electronics portfolio rather than being a standalone security product line
  • The group's dedicated automotive security arm, acquired as Argus in 2017 and later renamed PlaxidityX, is being wound down, so confirm which capabilities are retained in house (Calcalist)
